In the Footsteps of Darwin is one of our favorite ways to learn set collection, the mechanic behind classics like Ticket to Ride, Sushi Go!, and Wingspan. Each turn you pick a specimen from the shared board and add it to your journal, choosing which animals to group together and which goals to chase. Collect matching species, fill out your field notes by continent, and race to publish the theories that score big. Every pick is a small, satisfying puzzle: take what helps you, or grab what your neighbor needs?
Score the most points by drafting animal or character tiles from the shared display and placing them into your notebook to trigger bonuses and set up end-game scoring. The tension is timing and denial—take what you need now or let an opponent grab the perfect tile.
