Can I play at TTL without a membership?

Your first visit is on us. You just book one of our events and come see what we are all about.

Beyond that, we do not offer per visit pricing. We think there’s a chance at building a vibe that only comes with a group of members working together, so we are giving that a shot.

We will also have occasional events that are open to the public, which anyone can come to as often as they like.

Why quarterly pricing?

We chose quarterly pricing instead of yearly, monthly or per-visit pricing because it allows some flexibility to not lock in people, but encourages the longer term thinking we want in building our community.

How long will this pricing be available?

We can’t tell you for sure, but we can tell you how we’ll make that decision.

We want Tabletop Library to be affordable so people can join, and also sustainable so we can actually be around long term. We looked at other memberships people might have in the bay area -- from Equinox to Modern Sailing, Bay Padel to SF Clayer’s Club, and spoke to some early founding members who compared it to the cost of a night out at the movies or yoga classes. $199 / quarter felt in line with most customers expectations and - as long as we can sell a few games as gifts and some snacks along the way - hopefully enough to break even.

But it’s a guess, and don’t be surprised if it changes to accommodate demand. We’ve decided to publish our financials here if you need more numbers in your life.

How does cancellation work?

You can cancel your membership at any time from your account settings or by contacting us. Your membership will remain active until the end of your current billing period. We don’t offer refunds for partial periods, but you’ll continue to have full access until your membership expires. You may also pause memberships for a period if things come up.

Can I bring non-members?

Yes, please bring guests, games are better with friends. The first 5 guests you bring each month are free, and then each guest after is $10 each. With the $150 in guest passes each quarter you can host a big game night, or bring a partner once a week, whatever works for you. Guest passes don’t roll over month-to-month, and extra guests are only charged if the person you invited actually comes.

How does the family add-on work?

The family add-on allows you to add up to 4 additional members of your household to your membership (household limit of 5 total, including you) — it’s meant for family, not roommates, but use your judgment and ask us if you’re not sure. Each family member gets their own account and can independently make reservations, check out games, and use their own 5 free guest passes per month for friends outside your household. All family members share the same billing, and the whole household is covered under one membership fee.

What about the coworking add-on?

The coworking add-on is not available yet. We’re focusing on getting our core membership and game library running smoothly first. Once we’re up and running, we plan to offer weekday morning access to a dedicated coworking space with a quiet environment for focused work, high-speed WiFi, coffee and refreshments, and the ability to take quick game breaks.

Do I need to be approved or screened to be a member?

No. Anyone can join until membership is full. That said, we reserve the right to offer a full refund to members who have a problem following the house rules. We’re building a space where people feel comfortable and welcome, and that requires everyone to do their part.

When will I be charged?

New memberships are charged when you complete checkout. We hope you’ll join us.
