Every Thursday, TTL hosts a fun night of card games with a twist: bidding wars, hidden roles, wonky trump rules, a wide range of themes, and mechanics that bend what you thought a "trick" could be.

Quick-to-learn, quick-to-replay — most games wrap in 20–45 minutes, so tables can reset and try something new

If you know Euchre or Hearts, you're already halfway there. If you don't, that's fine too — half the fun is discovering how many different shapes this genre can take.

What to expect:

  • A rotating selection of trick-taking games from TTL's collection — from classics to modern reinventions (think The Crew, Nokosu Dice, Fellowship of the Rings: The Tricktaking Game, and rarer finds from the shelves)
  • Game Stewards on hand to teach and help fill tables
  • A great entry point for anyone who likes sharp, tactical games without a huge rules overhead

Plus: Meet designer Thomas Cardwell, creator of Texas — a collection of six original card games inspired by the Lone Star State, all playable with a standard deck of cards.

Learn the games straight from their creator, ask about his design process, and get in some hands-on play at the table. We'll also have a demo of PNW, Gameswell's other title, for anyone who loves the Pacific Northwest.

Details:

  • Thursdays, 6:30pm at TTL
  • Open to all members; solo drop-ins welcome
  • Tables formed on arrival, mixing new and familiar faces

Pick one of six games and use a standard deck of cards to shed, draft, collect sets, take tricks, or claim spaces to score the most points. The fun is reading the table and timing your plays as each game rewards a different kind of cleverness.
