Legendary designer, four fast games. Reiner Knizia has more published games than almost anyone in the hobby, and tonight we're spotlighting four of his best under-30-minute titles — perfect for sampling his knack for elegant mechanics and tough decisions in a small package.
On the tables
- Penguin Party – A tile-laying game of balance and blocking, as you build up a penguin colony one careful placement at a time.
- Mille Fiori – A gorgeous glassmaking game of engine-building on a shared board, where every move opens up new possibilities.
- Botswana – A quick set-collection and area game themed around African wildlife, with tight push-your-luck decisions.
- Gold Country – A route-building and resource game set in the gold rush, where timing your claims is everything.
Rotate between tables and try one, two, or all four — each game plays in well under an hour, so there's time to sample the whole lineup.
On each turn, play a colored value card and draft any animal from the market. When a color’s sixth card is placed, the round ends; each color scores its last played value, so players balance drafting shares with tactically bumping or tanking market values.
